2011 Cabernet Sauvignon
The grapes were carefully selected from a premium collection of vineyards across key Napa Valley sub-appellations. This vintage is a blend of fruit from the hillsides of Atlas Peak with that of the warmer north valley floor in Calistoga, the cooler south valley of Oak Knoll, and the renowned, old world earthiness of Rutherford. This enabled our winemaker to achieve a wine with excellent color, balance and ripe flavors showing authentic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon varietal character. Aged in premium French oak barrels for 24 months, with aromatics of cedar, black licorice and dark cherry complemented by well-integrated tannins.
A double gold award winner from the prestigious 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, this wine was sourced from a single block in a premium Rutherford vineyard. This historic AVA is renown for its warm summer days with cooling breezes from San Pablo Bay and morning fog with good drainage in the sandy loam soils. A phenomenal growing season in 2012, contributed to a vintage with all the hallmarks of a classic California Chardonnay. Aromas of pear, citrus and tropical fruit are accented by flavors of melon, peach, lemon crème and a touch of minerality. Barrel fermented for 10 months in French oak, this is a beautifully balanced wine with a long, elegant finish.
